Dominica defends support for whaling

ARTICLE: Dominica defends support for whaling following prime minister's visit to Japan. International Herald Tribune. The Associated Press, Monday April 30, 2007

Comments:
What an arrogant campaign.

Don't the old masters from Britain realise that St. Vincent and the Grenadines as well as St. Lucia are nations that are actively utilising cetaceans for food? In the former case, they kill Humpback whales, in the latter, Pilot whales.

Perhaps this has something to do with their support for the sustainable use of whale resources at the IWC? What is this TV ad going to change?

One gets the impression that elections in Britain and a desire to appear "green" has more to do with this campaign than a genuine belief in the message, and that this campaign is likely to strengthen resolve against neo-British colonialism in the Caribbean.
